Vine House Church of the United States is teaming with Vine House Church of Liberia to place a fresh-water well in each of the villages that are serviced by Vine House Church. Liberia is an impoverished country, ravished by war over the last two decades. The wars have left the infrastructure of the country in shambles. Liberia is identified as one of a handful of countries that are considered the poorest of the poor. Our desire is to see a fresh-water well placed in each village that we come in contact with as a way of saying we care. Often drinking water is carried on heads from a creek that serves as a bathing hole as well. The result is much sickness that constantly plagues villages. We have contracted with a company that will drill wells in Liberia. The cost of the wells is $2,700 US. This amount covers the drilling, capping and pump mechanism that will service the village. We are asking for help in this worthy project, to see the health and well being of an entire village improved. We who have are called to share with those who have not.
Currently we are in 17 villages in and around the capital city of Monrovia and we have been able to place one well in the village of Banjor. This village was the result of the war and serves approximately 100 displaced children who have no father or mother. These children have been accepted into the village and those adults who remain care for them. They have had to carry their water from a creek that is more than a mile away.
Along with fresh water, the need for sanitation is huge in each village. The villagers currently use the “bush” as their sanitation facility. The result of this is a high level of sickness as well. We would like to be able to place a latrine type facility in each village. The cost to build one of these facilities is about $2,200 US.
Vine House Church is a non-profit 5013c organization in the United States that is centered in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Vine has been in existence for nine years and currently has five Churches in and around Rancho Cucamonga. Based solely in homes, with low overhead cost, we have been able to extend the ministry beyond our location in the United States and serve some the poorer areas of the world. Currently there are 65 Home or Village Churches in the Amazon Rain Forest of Brazil and the previous mentioned Churches in Liberia. The policy of Vine House Church is that every penny given to either Brazil or Liberia will make it to those poor areas of the world. No administrative costs will be take out. If a donation is made for a well in Liberia, 100% will go to seeing that well placed in a village. |
